In 2015, Vinci Motorways and Wifirst signed an exclusive partnership contract to equip the service areas of the A8 motorway between Aix-en-Provence and Nice with ultra high-speed WiFi service.
The solution proposed by Wifirst, which is both efficient and secure, includes the provision of three distinct SSIDs with guest access for visitors, business access for staff and access for external service providers who can connect to a secure Internet network without having to identify themselves on the connection portal.
Since 2015, WiFi is continuously available at all 11 rest stops. The service is free for 30 minutes, with a 12-hour WiFi offer available for €4 including VAT. The signal quality remains high even in the summer period when traffic is most frequent. We recorded a record peak in monthly connections in July 2017 with 16,970 motorists/road users connected.
In 2019, the Escota group renewed their trust in Wifirst by signing 4 new areas of the EGIS Atlandes Group to the same offer model at rest stops.
