About Wifirst

Who is Wifirst?

Wifirst is a B2B telecom operator. Founded in 2002, Wifirst has 400 employees and operates over 350,000 WiFi hotspots for thousands of business customers. Wifirst's mission is to create a high-performance, secure, scalable and sustainable connectivity platform to help businesses succeed in their digital transformation.

What makes Wifirst different from competing operators?

What sets Wifirst apart from its competitors is the expertise and know-how it has developed thanks to over 20 years' experience in telecoms networks, and WiFi in particular.

Whether for the French Army in OPEX, for Europe's largest university campuses or for multi-million m2 retail chains, Wifirst has always successfully met unrivalled technological and operational challenges.

What geographical area does Wifirst cover?

Wifirst has customers in over 30 countries.

As a French operator, Wifirst naturally covers the whole of mainland France. We also have offices and teams in the UK, Spain, Italy and Germany, so we cover these destinations.

What's more, we're able to extend our activities to support our customers' expansion projects throughout Europe (e.g. Norauto) and even worldwide (e.g. with the French Army in Africa and the Middle East).

What kind of customers are Wifirst's offerings aimed at?

Wifirst's connectivity solutions are aimed at all professionals who have made their digital transformation an essential performance challenge: point-of-sale networks, head offices, hotels, student residences, EHPAD, service residences for the elderly, clinics, coworking facilities, campsites, vacation clubs, logistics warehouses, industries, etc. No sector is immune. No sector is immune!

Wifirst solutions

What does Wifirst offer?

Wifirst offers managed connectivity solutions for businesses and local authorities: deployment and management of professional WiFi networks, fiber optic connections, SD-WAN solutions, unified managed LAN to pool all uses...

Wifirst also offers security solutions, including managed firewalls.

Wifirst also offers multimedia and voice services: IPTV, Chromecast, IP telephony, Trunk SIP.

Which manufacturers does Wifirst work with?

Wifirst constantly evaluates the equipment offered by all the IT equipment manufacturers on the market, with whom we have close relationships. These include, but are not limited to, Cisco Meraki, Aruba, Ruckus, Extreme Networks, Fortinet, Cambium and Huawei.

Wifirst has developed in-house tools and applications enabling it to operate all types of equipment and supervise heterogeneous fleets for its customers.

What is the "as a service" model recommended by Wifirst?

WiFi as a Service is both a business model and an innovative approach:

  • a business model: Wifirst invests in deployment and operates the service. Customers pay Wifirst a fixed monthly subscription fee, with no initial investment required.
  • an innovative approach: Wifirst assumes full responsibility for the project, and makes strong commitments on service quality.

It's a model that is increasingly appealing to IT decision-makers.

Which WiFi standard is best suited to my needs?

You'll find some answers in this blog post. The choice of a standard should be a balancing point for a number of criteria, in particular: the maturity of the standard (how much of the equipment in circulation is compatible with it?), your functional needs, your budget and your awareness of digital responsibility.

What level of security is included in Wifirst's offers?

The security challenges associated with connectivity are as follows:

  • Confidentiality and integrity of data in transit on the LAN and WiFi network.
  • Traceability of actions (logical and physical) on the active elements feeding the LAN. Centralized logging, analysis and reporting solutions, offering a single, real-time view of the network's security status, are being adopted for complete security visibility.
  • Service availability.

Wifirst is regularly audited by its most demanding security customers (La Banque Postale, the French Army, Groupement des Mousquetaires, etc.). Our solution is systematically validated by these customers.

Wifirst is also ISO-27001 certified for its entire scope of activity.

Price list

What business models does Wifirst offer?

Wifirst's historical model is "WiFi as a Service". In this model, Wifirst takes financial responsibility for network deployment, and is remunerated in the form of a monthly subscription paid by the customer.

Since Wifirst has broadened its scope of activity, other models are possible for customers, particularly those who prefer to finance part or all of the investment from an accounting point of view.

Why are Wifirst's fiber optic rates particularly competitive?

Wifirst is interconnected with some fifteen operators across Europe.

This means that for each connection request, we will query all our collection providers and can offer the best price for the best geographical area. Find out more about our fiber offer.

Key milestones

What are the main stages in a deployment project?

The main stages in a successful project are as follows:

  • Qualification of requirements and projection of needs to 5-8 years.
  • On-site coverage study and definition of a layout plan for network equipment and cabling.
  • Deployment and commissioning
  • VSR period (Regular Service Verification)
  • Network supervision and maintenance

A dedicated project manager handles each project.

How does a WiFi coverage audit work?

For information on how Wifirst's teams carry out audits, the easiest way is to read the blog post dedicated to the subject!

Who are my privileged contacts at Wifirst to follow my project?

Your first contact is, of course, the Wifirst sales representative with whom you have a contract. The sales representative then creates a deployment project. A Delivery Project Manager is then assigned to you (or a Project Director for large-scale projects) and will accompany you right through to commissioning.

Then, depending on the contract, you'll be in the hands of our Customer Success department, an Account Operations Manager (AOM) and/or an Account Manager.

In all cases, a 24/7 bilingual hotline is available to you.

Contracts

What is the average length of a contract with Wifirst?

A contract between Wifirst and a customer site is generally between 36 and 72 months.

Can I sign up for a WiFi contract with Wifirst if I already have fiber with another operator?

Exactly. Even though the Internet connection and the WiFi LAN are linked, they are technically independent. Ideally, you have a single connectivity provider, but you may have a different operator for the fiber than for the local network (LAN + WiFi).

Do I own the equipment deployed and operated by Wifirst?

Not usually. Wifirst, true to its promise of quality of service, must own the equipment in order to manage, configure, update and replace it as it sees fit.

Moreover, there is no fundamental interest for a customer to own a kiosk, just as no one owns his or her consumer box! What's more, Wifirst can take advantage of preferential purchasing costs for large orders (precisely because Wifirst remains the owner and operator of this equipment).

Then, depending on the contract, you'll be in the hands of our Customer Success department, an Account Operations Manager (AOM) and/or an Account Manager.

In all cases, a 24/7 bilingual hotline is available to you.

What guarantees does Wifirst provide in terms of technical support?

All solutions provided by Wifirst are service solutions. This means that we supervise all deployed network equipment 24/7, and provide preventive, corrective and evolutionary maintenance.

We have developed technologies and an organizational structure that enable us to make strong commitments to service availability (99% minimum) and guaranteed recovery in the event of failure (4 hours).
