Room Area Network

WiFi just like at home

Download our brochure

>Our homes are overrun with WiFi-connected devices (smartphones, computers, consoles, smartTVs, printers, connected watches, connected speakers, etc.) that need to "talk" to each other securely. Wifirst's Room Area Network (RAN) is the perfect answer to this need.

Personal, secure WiFi, like a virtual box

In a standard collective WiFi architecture, all network end-users are on the same VLAN, and traffic segmentation is activated by default (a basic security precaution), meaning that end-users can't "see each other" on the network.

Wifirst's original idea was to create a secure connection bubble, apartment by apartment, to reproduce a "home-like" connection experience. Wifirst has achieved this feat by developing a technology based on the "Room Area Network", while retaining the physical architecture of collective WiFi.

With Room Area Network

With our Room Area Network technology, each room has a secure network (WPA2/WPA3 encryption) enabling multiple devices to communicate easily with each other, just like at home.

Without Room Area Network

In a public WiFi environment, it's difficult to get two devices to communicate without specific configuration by the service provider. What's more, some public WiFi networks have little or no security.

Private WiFi, just like at home

Users log on to their room's secure network with an individual WiFi password and can :

Using a WiFi printer

The printer cannot be connected to the Internet on a traditional WiFi hotspot, as it cannot access the captive portal. The RAN allows users to make full use of their printer's network capabilities.

Listening to music with a connected speaker

Connected speakers are very popular, especially among students. With no access to a captive portal, the Room Area Network is the only way for connected speakers to work.

Play networked games by connecting your console

All game consoles can be permanently connected to the Internet via the Room Area Network.
